Listed here is an old
dotara
.
It came from the estate of an elderly world-traveling lady and appears to be quite old.
As a musical instrument I would say that it is in very poor condition.
However, from an antique/decorative standpoint,
it is very nice.

The second-to-last photo is a
close up
of the head stock or peg box (
muga
?).
Two features can be seen.
One is that it
appears that the piece was hand made.
The other is that it can be seen, by the split and the glue, the piece was
broken off and glued back on at some point.
On the other end, someone had provided a cheesy looking bridge
(
Ghora
?) - probably not original equipment; it is just sitting there, loose.  Also, as can be seen in one picture, the
membrane has detached from the box towards the neck.
Note also that there are five tuning pegs (
kan
).
There are positions for two more and there are seven strings.
So
it would
appear that there were 7 tuning pegs at one point, and now there are only five.
My photography skills and equipment are limited so the photos aren’t great.
I would say that the darker photos
(w/o flash) are more probably more representative of the actual color.
